30 ROCKEFELLER PLAZA NEW YORK, NY 10112

My name is Francesco Realmuto and with my restaurants
I’ve tried to tell the story of my passion for food.

Moving from Italy to New York gave me the chance to become familiar with other foods and
cultures and I soon fell in love with many of them. Among those cultures there is one that
stands out in my memory because of the beauty of my encounter with it and that is Mexican
culture and food. This is where Puya-Tacos de Puebla comes from.

Our Tacos

Puya is the name of a famous Mexican
hot pepper. Used widely in Mexico, it is
difficult to find elsewhere, probably due to
its substitution by other more common hot
peppers such as the guajillo.

However, the puya pepper is unequaled for its aroma.
With a characteristic fruity taste which sets it apart from
all other hot peppers; a taste which always recalls home
to Mexicans. This authentic Mexican hot pepper, so tasty
and versatile in the kitchen, is the inspiration for our
tacos, those of the authentic popular tradition.

About Us

I have traveled widely in Mexico to deepen
my understanding of traditional Mexican
cuisine and to discover the roots of the
authentic Mexican tacos. I found these roots
in Puebla and I have brought them from
Puebla to our taqueria.

From Puebla come the colors, the basic
ingredients, the flavors, the inspiration, our
smiles and the gift of hospitality. From there,
most importantly, comes our chef, Romulo
Barrientos. Just as I have done, Romulo also came
to the United States and here he has developed
his career working in prestigious New York
restaurants, side-by-side with the best chefs of
the city. He represents the authentic expression
of a more traditional Mexican cuisine, and he
prepares it every day with passion and care, using
ingredients of the highest quality to offer tacos
with real flavors from his country.
